In Lahore, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the rescheduling of the President’s Trophy Grade I 2023-24 final. The much-anticipated clash between Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is now slated to take place in Karachi from February 6 to 10. The final venue is yet to be confirmed.

Nadeem Khan, the Director of Domestic Cricket Operations, stated, “After careful consideration and in the spirit of fairness, we have decided to accommodate the request from one of the finalist teams to reschedule the President Trophy final.

He further expressed satisfaction with the successful return of departments to domestic cricket, highlighting the tournament’s success with 21 matches across seven rounds among seven departmental teams. Khan conveyed best wishes to both finalists, anticipating a final played with the same competitive spirit.

For those unaware, SNGPL secured their spot in the final by defeating the Higher Education Commission (HEC) by 109 runs in the last round. WAPDA claimed the top spot in the standings with 62 points in seven matches, followed closely by SNGPL with 57 points in an equal number of matches.

In the final round, HEC needed 283 runs to win with nine wickets in hand. Despite Saad Khan’s resilient innings of 65 runs, the team fell short by 109 runs. Shahnawaz Dahani played a pivotal role, securing his second first-class five-wicket haul and contributing to HEC’s downfall. The other last-round fixture witnessed WAPDA securing victory against Pakistan Television Network (PTV) by three wickets, concluding on Monday.
