Cricket Australia is conducting an investigation into Glenn Maxwell after the renowned all-rounder was reportedly admitted to the hospital following a night out in Adelaide. A spokesperson announced on Tuesday that the governing body intends to question the 35-year-old about the recent incident.

According to reports from Australian media outlets, Maxwell was hospitalized after attending a concert last Friday featuring the band Six & Out, composed of former cricket legends, including Brett Lee.

In response to the situation, a spokesperson stated, “Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide over the weekend and is actively seeking additional information.”

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Maxwell has been temporarily sidelined from the upcoming 50-overs series against the West Indies scheduled for early next month. However, Cricket Australia clarified that this decision is unrelated to the Adelaide incident. The spokesperson affirmed that Maxwell is expected to make a comeback for the Twenty20 series against the West Indies, commencing on February 9 after the completion of the one-day international games.

Although Maxwell’s recent focus has been on limited-overs cricket, particularly excelling in Australia’s 50-overs World Cup victory against hosts India last year, the Adelaide incident adds to a series of unfortunate incidents in his career. Notably, he missed a World Cup match in India due to an injury sustained from falling off a golf cart, and in November 2022, he broke his leg slipping at a friend’s birthday party. Despite these setbacks, Cricket Australia remains confident in his return to the T20 series against the West Indies.
