Qalandars Face Challenge with Missing Star (Rashid Khan) in PSL 9
Lahore Qalandars are without the services of leg spinner Rashid Khan.
The Lahore Qalandars, reigning champions of the Pakistan Super League, are facing a setback as their star leg spinner, Rashid Khan, has been sidelined due to a back injury that required surgery. Rashid Khan personally informed the Lahore Qalandars’ management about his unavailability for the upcoming PSL event scheduled in Lahore from February 17.
The absence of Rashid Khan is a significant blow to the Lahore Qalandars, forcing the team to search for an alternative spinner to fill his crucial role. Atif Rana, the Chief Executive of Lahore Qalandars, expressed his regret over losing Rashid Khan, acknowledging the challenge of finding a replacement for such a renowned and impactful player.
It is disheartening to be without Rashid Khan. He is a renowned name and a game-changer. No one can entirely fill Rashid’s shoes. We will strive to include a competent player in the squad as a substitute for Rashid,” remarked Rana in a media statement.
It’s noteworthy that Afghanistan’s head coach, Jonathan Trott, had earlier highlighted the team’s cautious approach in managing Rashid’s injury. Trott emphasized the importance of ensuring Rashid’s complete recovery, considering his significant influence on the team.
“Our priority is to handle Rashid’s back issue with utmost care. As an influential player, we must ensure he is fully prepared, avoiding any hasty return post-surgery. Providing him the necessary time is crucial, and he is diligently working with the team,” Trott explained.
Rashid Khan has been a key player for Lahore Qalandars, playing a pivotal role in the team’s success as two-time champions of the PSL. His absence will undoubtedly be felt, but the team remains focused on finding a capable replacement and supporting Rashid in his recovery journey.
